District 322F had come into existence in 1979
comprising of the states of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim and
Revenue Districts of Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur,
Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar in West Bengal, India
and the Country of Bhutan. It was geographically one of the
largest districts of Lions Clubs International.
Almost after 20 years of formation, number of Lions Clubs in
the District became around 100 and it was felt, by the members
to have smaller districts for better administration. As such,
in District Conference held on 9th and 1Oth April, 1999 at
Darjeeling it was unanimously resolved to bifurcate District
322D into District 322D and District 322F comprising of areas
as under: Dist. 322D : The States of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Tripura,Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
Dist. 322F : The States of Sikkim, Revenue
District of Malda, Dakshin Dinajpur,Uttar Dinajpur,
Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch behar in the State of West
Bengal (India) and the country of Bhutan. The proposal was
approved by Board of Directors of the International
Association of Lions Clubs & District 322F came into effect
from 1 -7-2000. |
